CLEBURNE (CBSDFW.COM) - North Texas was rattled by a 3.1 magnitude earthquake early Friday morning. It happened just after 2:00 a.m. in the Johnson County town of Briaroaks, about 11 miles north-northeast of Cleburne, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The shaking was felt by people in the Burleson and Cleburne areas, and possibly even southern parts of Fort Worth and Dallas. “It was the weirdest feeling,” recalled Cleburne resident Mike Robardey. “It felt like somebody was hitting my floor joist underneath the house. And it was like, cold chill bumps ran up my arms.”
“I knew that’s what it was from the rumble,” explained Johnson County resident Sandy Schmitz. “The couch I was on, they jerk, but they twist. It’s a twisting motion, and it’s very quick.”
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries from the quake.
