Earthquake Rattles Parts Of North Texas

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Some North Texans may have felt a whole lot of shaking going on!

An earthquake rattled parts of the metroplex Friday morning.

The quake happened just after midnight and was centered near the Love Field area.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a 2.0 magnitude earthquake with a latitude of 32.866°N and longitude of 96.826° — centering the quake just west of the intersection of W. Northwest Highway and Inwood Road.

The epicenter is about a mile east/northeast of Dallas Love Field airport, but some residents reportedly also felt the shaking in Plano and Watauga.

There are no reports of injuries or damage.

According to the the USGS, Friday’s earthquake is the second Texas earthquake this year.

The first Texas quake of 2012 happened Tuesday near  Amarillo. That earthquake had a 2.8 magnitude.
